I wanted to pass along something you may find helpful, Dr. Karen Overall's Protocol for Relaxation. "Protocol for Relaxation: Cautions" <http://home.gci.net/~divs/behavior/bemod_relax.html> "Protocol for Relaxation: The Exercises" <http://home.gci.net/~divs/behavior/appendix_b.html> Customarily, we teach these exercises to clients to use for dogs who exhibit reactivity/arousal when meeting other dogs/unfamiliar dogs while being walked on leash in the neighborhood. It's a plan to be implemented *before* starting the exercises that Leslie McDevitt describes in her book, Control Unleashed. I think it just may be very useful for working with a dog who seems unable to settle on its own, in the house. |
